About

I have run the gauntlet of the different diets out there and found that there are some great diets.  Unfortunately, time and money are usually the downfall that I run into.  I can’t afford to eat a ton of fresh fish, steak, produce or supplements and I am too busy to spend hours in the gym.  I want to have the kind of body that God designed me to have, but I want to remain a good steward of the finances He has provided me with as well.  I also want to make my relationships with God and people a priority over the time I spend focused on my body.  I am open to just about any healthy diet suggestion that I can find.  I have found one diet that fits in my budget and my schedule.  The cost of Body by Vi shakes is a little less than I was spending on breakfast and lunch, so following their diet actually cuts a little out of my grocery budget.  I just drink a shake for breakfast and a shake for lunch, then I have a couple of healthy 100 calorie snacks and a normal dinner.  As of December 14, 2011, here are the numbers on what my body has been doing:

Trend Analysis (according to the Libra Android application that I use to track my weight):

Last Week:  -2.27 lbs/week

15 Days:  -2.11 lbs/week

Month:  -1.85 lbs/week

Three Months:  -1.29 lbs/week

Six Months:  -1.03 lbs/week

Yes, the trend changes reflect some bad weeks for kid’s birthdays or holiday parties and such, so you can see that I’m not just a highly disciplined person who is forging away at this diet or anything like that.  I have many of the same weaknesses as most dieters.

In order to make sure that the shakes don’t get old, I have created this blog of the different Body by Vi recipes that I have found in various different places.  I’m loving the tastes so far and the number of recipes leads me to believe that it could be sustainable for a much longer term (which is great because while I have already lost 40 pounds, I’ve still got at least 50 more pounds to lose).  Where I need your help is in finding which recipes are good and which recipes I might want to skip.  If you try these recipes out, please come back and rate the recipe.  Each recipe is entered as a blog entry, so you can just use the stars at the bottom to rate the recipe.  As more people vote on the recipes, the “Top Rated” section on the right side will show which recipes are the best.  I’m also trying to use tags to make it easier for us all to find the kinds of recipes that we would like for the day.  If you feel like something with chocolate, you can click on “chocolate” in the tag cloud on the right hand side to pull up those recipes.  If you find a recipe that you think is tagged inappropriately or that you think needs to add a tag, just leave a comment on that recipe telling me so, and I will do my best to update the tags quickly.
